Summary Directly oversees operating the job site, including basic maintenance of equipment, handling tools, moving pipe, operating heavy equipment, mixing job materials and assisting with technical analysis of pump and motors in a manner to achieve optimal safety, efficiency, quality, reliability, staff morale and teamwork by performing the duties listed in the following section.
This is a manual labor, physically intensive position with repetitive tasks.
All employees of Weisinger Incorporated must agree to perform work out of town or at night, on the weekends and on holidays with short notice and for an extended period as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities The flowing list includes essential duties and responsibilities.
Other duties may be assigned.
Perform all activities in accordance with all policies, principles, and procedures established by Department, Division and Weisinger Inc.
Management and Board of Directors.
supervise and lead crew, including training roughnecks to properly complete their job requirements and to eventually become pump rig operators.
Responsibilities include training, mentoring and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Responsible for ensuring safety of crew members or other individuals on the job site, including but not limited to conducting daily safety meetings.
Immediately notify supervisor about injuries to self or crew members.
Observe and avoid obstructions from utilities and structures while rigging up and rigging down.
Perform basic maintenance of pump rig including mud tanks, mud pump, draw works, engine, handling tools and supporting equipment (including crew truck, forklift, trailers, air compressors, test engines, light towers etc) before, during and after shift.
Leave vehicles, equipment and tools in operable condition.
Immediately report all maintenance issues to superintendent.
Bring equipment and downhole tools to shop for repair.
Communicate repair needs to machine shop and supervisor.
Operate vehicles and comply with all Department of Transportation rules and regulations.
If employee maintains a commercial driver’s license, complete driver vehicle inspection reports before and after operating commercially regulated vehicles.
Submit inspection reports after each shift.
It is the employee’s responsibility to review weight limits and monitor hours of service for compliance.
Communicate with engineers, owners, field representatives, inspectors or other agents of Weisinger Incorporated customers.
Understand and implement instructions as written on work order(s).
Complete the following paperwork: Timesheets – complete daily for entire crew and turn into box before the end of the shift Work orders – receive from field superintendent, implement and then throw away Bill(s) of lading or shipping tickets – receive a copy for all deliveries to the job site and turn into box before the end of the shift Repair tags – complete for items such as drill pipe threads, tubulars and elevators Checklists Use or oversee the use of handling tools such as tongs and wrenches as needed.
Mix or oversee the mixing of drilling fluid, cement and chemicals.
Operate and/or oversee the operation of equipment such as the pump rig, crew truck, fork lift and gravel machine.
Assist technician with starting, adjusting and testing equipment.
Store and care for all tools, spare parts, materials and supplies.
Load and ensure use of proper tools and proper sized tools.
Maintain adequate inventory (including spares) of tools and supplies for jobs and equipment.
Communicate needs to Service Manager on a weekly basis.
Follow all safety regulations, policies, principles and procedures.
Use proper Personal Protective Equipment.
Display willingness to continually advance knowledge about the pump rig and service department.
Ultimately responsible for ensuring basic housekeeping including disposing of garbage and organizing job site, crew truck and employee lockers before, during and after shift.
Abide by on-call schedule, which includes all crews in the commercial service department on a rotating basis.
Must carry and be available by a Weisinger Incorporated-assigned phone and be readily available to report to work as needed at all times.
Performs other duties as assigned, which may include working in another role (ie rig hand) or in another department as needed.

Education and/or Experience High School Diploma, GED equivalent or applicable experience required.
3-5 years of experience as a rig hand (roughneck) required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Valid Texas Driver’s License required.
Valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver’s License preferred.
Texas Department of Licensing & Regulation Pump Installer’s license preferred.
Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical or safety procedures, manuals and standards written or spoken in English required.
Ability to understand and write in English required.
Ability to converse and to convey technical concepts to customers and employees of Weisinger Incorporated.
Mathematical Skills Basic mathematical skills required include: Adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals, Application of fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations, and Cross-referencing figures on a chart and completing conversions.
Special Equipment Skills The ability to develop a working knowledge of basic electrical equipment (including amp meters and volt meters) and analytical equipment (including the digital/ultrasonic flowmeter, power monitoring meter and vibration meter) is required.
Proficiency with the following is required: selecting the right tool and sized tool for task, oxy-acetylene cutting torch basic electrical power tools ph-indicator strips 1 liter Imhoff cones Rossum Sand Testers, and viscosity cup.
Basic welding skills, and ability to operate a tractor, backhoe or forklift preferred.
Reasoning Ability The following reasoning abilities are required: defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions, and interpreting an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form including several abstract and concrete variables.
Other Skills and Abilities Mastery of basic electrical skills and knowledge is required.
Basic understanding of the following is also required: drawings schematics and blueprints, gear drives and pumps, lockout/tagout and basic safety electrical principles including wiring, motor controls, contacts/relays, breakers, coils, motor protection device, switches, starters and check conductors.
troubleshooting using equipment such as meg-o-meters, electrical meters and voltameters.
pump curves, operation and maintenance testing, connecting and commissioning pumps and motors.
Physical Demands Balance and stability is required.
Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; taste or smell and lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted, and lift and/or move up to 100 pounds assisted.
Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to distinguish color and ability to adjust focus required.
This position requires full use of arms and back, and is comprised of repetitive motions.
Stamina is required as employees may work physically demanding shifts of up to or more than 10 hours per shift.
If employee maintains commercial driver’s license, compliance with 37 Texas Administrative Code Chapter 4 (which includes but is not limited to satisfactory Texas Department of Transportation physical exam and random drug testing) required.
