POSITION SUMMARY: The Process Control and Automation Technician instrumentation ensures the proper operation of machinery and automated equipment of the manufacturing facility.
This includes but is not limited to manufacturing equipment, motors, electrical and electronic systems, VFD’s, PLC’s, pneumatic systems, conveyor systems, forklifts, parts fabrication, and welding.
This role can be required at times to support the maintenance and repair of mechanical systems, structural systems, and building systems such as HVAC systems, steam and chiller systems, plumbing, appliances, roof, lighting, wall repairs, etc.
, This position requires the employee to actively identify problems with equipment and/or facility systems, document the issues, and take corrective actions to resolve the problems.
Is also responsible for effectively communicating all pertinent issues to management.
The Process Control and Automation Technician performs assigned preventive maintenance tasks as it relates to the production facility to minimize downtime or unplanned repairs.
The incumbent must maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with company and regulatory procedures and rules.
This position will work, interact, and collaborate with contractor services for a variety of maintenance and repair services.
This position reports to the Maintenance Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs manufacturing equipment troubleshooting and equipment repairs Design and implement new process control and automation system Maintain and improve current process controls and instrumentation to meet the needs of current production equipment and upgrades/expansion Follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety Preventive Actions, Quality Policy, Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) and Safety policies.
Manufacture, process, pack, or hold clean and safe food as appropriate to the assigned duties Performs Preventive Maintenance duties (Includes PM tasks and PM system functions) Collaborate with maintenance management on electronic and instrumentation parts inventories and identification parts to be acquired Mentors and trains other Technicians and Apprentices in technical and leadership skills QUALIFICATIONS: 5+ Years of Maintenance or Production work in a manufacturing environment 3+ Years of Automation and controls maintenance and programming in a manufacturing environment Associate’s Degree in Industrial Automation/equivalent or relevant certification from a trade school required Able to work seating, and possible walking and able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Must have knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems, HVAC systems, OSHA requirements, pneumatic systems, and hydraulic systems.
Excellent troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills are required Must reside in Palestine, Dallas, or Houston, Texas NOTE: Relocation is not provided for this position.
