Job Summary Oversees produce department operations for multiple stores within an assigned geographic area.
Trains and develops retail partners to ensure proper execution of produce operations and to achieve expected financial objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assists management with interviewing, hiring, training, and developing partners; appraising performance, administering rewards and discipline; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Works in conjunction with retail management to evaluate pay and issues.
Oversees the execution of produce category management programs at the retail level to ensure correct product placement according to schematic plans, maintenance of pricing accuracy, and fulfillment of negotiated vendor promotions.
Offers recommendations to category management and retail leadership for process improvements.
Performs in-store condition inspections related to product date, quality, presentation, and temperature.
Ensures adherence and compliance of all food safety regulations and product origin labeling.
Supports the execution of processes related to inventory replenishment, control, and general management of the produce category.
Analyzes and interprets reports and retail store results; assists with forecasting sales, trends, and industry innovations.
Conducts store visits within assigned geographic territory to ensure alignment with Company programs and initiatives.
Serves as a liaison between category management and retail operations; assists with vendor relations.
Attends period-end category management strategy meetings and assists with sales plan development.
Indirectly responsible for sales, shrink, profit/loss, market share, and human capital metrics for produce departments in assigned geographic territory.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Advanced knowledge of retail produce departments.
Intermediate knowledge of software systems used for the purpose of planning, forecasting and budgeting.
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Intermediate knowledge of SAP reporting and transactional applications.
Intermediate knowledge of WFM (Workforce Management).
Basic mathematical skills.
Ability to prepare reports and business correspondence.
Ability to research information, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to show information in presentation or diagram form.
Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form.
Ability to comprehend and interpret information.
Ability to learn new technology systems, methods and processes.
Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
Ability to lead and motivate others.
Ability to use knives/box cutters.
Ability to operate a fork lift/pallet jack.
Ability to use precision hand tools.
Ability to frequently travel to off-site and out-of-town locations with possible overnight stays.
Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends and holidays.
Required to drive in accordance with the BGC Driver policy.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must be attentive to potential hazards and remedy or place appropriate warning signs or devices around or near the hazard as soon as is reasonably possible.
Must report any potential hazards that cannot be immediately remedied to a supervisor.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications High school Diploma or GED required.
Four or more years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or higher education required.
Food Handler Certification required where applicable.
Physical Demands Continuously required to use close vision, distance vision, depth perception or the ability to focus.
Frequently required to talk and hear.
Frequently required to use hands for reaching, touching or handling.
Frequently required to use fine finger movements (ex.
sorting and typing).
Frequently required to sit for long periods of time.
Frequently required to stand or walk.
Frequently required to drive.
Occasionally required to push, pull, maneuver or lift objects up to 75 lbs.
