Job Description Time Type: Full time Role Details: Time Type: Full Time Starting Pay: $20 / HR Job Location: Company Wide A Trainee is expected to perform in these essential duties and responsibilities by: Developing a working knowledge of all retail store and Assistant Manager positions (Operations Fundamental Skills) Learning how to manage people and processes at McCoy’s using our Business as Unusual (BAU) culture.
Attending and participating in all meetings, training sessions, and company-sponsored events of the MDP Program Applying for Assistant Manager openings during or after the successful completion of the MDP Program Other duties as assigned by management or by business need.
QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or six months to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Be able to read, comprehend and write instructions and correspondence.
Be able to communicate in one-on-one and small group situations.
Be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide units of measure, whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions.
Be able to deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations.
Utilize company point-of-sale system (MAC21), WorkDay, Microsoft Office, and other 3rd party software.
Meet all Company equipment usage requirements including obtaining forklift and delivery driver certifications.
Prior supervisory or management experience in any industry PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Working knowledge or prior supervisory or management experience in the retail building supply or construction industries is helpful but not required.
A willingness to relocate for Assistant Manager promotion opportunities (opportunities for promotion are not guaranteed in the same market or nearby markets of the initial home store location) WORK AVAILABILITY McCoy’s retail locations are open 7:00am to 7:00pm Monday through Friday, and Saturday 7:00am to 5:00pm.
Management Trainees should be available to work up to fifty (50) hours per week, including overtime, to meet business needs during regular business hours.
Employees must maintain acceptable attendance as scheduled to meet business needs.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS Management Trainees frequently travel between their home store location, other store locations and company Headquarters during the MDP Program.
Trainees must meet driver license requirements of the company, be able to legally obtain a rental car and have current auto liability insurance.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS The following physical demands must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear.
The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
