JOB
The Director, Learning and Development is a full-time, 12-month position responsible to the Associate Vice Provost, Academic Affairs.
The Director, Learning and Development will serve as a key leader in the strategic development, implementation, and assessment of professional development offered by the Center for Professional Excellence built on the foundation of mutual respect, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement for all faculty and staff at Tyler Junior College.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Direct the strategic planning, development, and implementation of professional development programming for faculty and staff in alignment with the college’s goals.
Promote and embed a culture of learning by providing a wide range of educational programming opportunities in a variety of modalities.
Lead the design and implementation of faculty development for online course instruction using the best practices for learning in an online environment and in the use of the LMS (Canvas).
Evaluate and inform faculty on emerging learning technologies and recommend best practices.
Lead the design and implementation of faculty development programming in active and experiential learning.
Collaborate with academic departments to incorporate discipline specific training.
Lead the development and implementation of a robust slate of staff development offerings focused on professional, technology, communication, and productivity enhancement.
Develop, monitor, and report on performance metrics and KPIs to assess the effectiveness of learning and development initiatives.
Ensure offerings support the College’s initiatives, priorities, and goals.
Develop and direct strategic initiatives for elevating workforce competencies, focusing on educational excellence and exceptional service delivery.
Oversee the establishment and cultivation of synergistic partnerships across academic divisions, administrative functions, and external entities to drive organizational objectives.
Provide leadership, supervision, and mentorship to the Learning and Development team (including the Instructional Designer and Manager of Learning and Development), fostering a climate of excellence and growth.
Recruit and manage faculty partners to enhance faculty development through peer-led programming.
Administer the Learning and Development budget, making informed decisions on resources and expenditures.
Develop and implement instructional initiatives under the leadership of Associate Vice Provost for Academic Affairs.
Represent the Center for Professional Excellence and TJC as needed in college, regional, state, and national committees and organizations.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Perform related duties as assigned.
Will have contact – in person, by email, or by phone – with staff, students, and the general public.

TravelMust have and maintain a current valid Texas driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
Some travel will be required.
Working ConditionsSome evening or weekend hours may be required as business needs dictate.
Will work around standard office conditions.
