Accounting Specialist I Job Category: Finance Requisition Number: ACCOU001442 Posting Details Posted: January 17, 2024 Full-Time Locations Showing 1 location Sulphur Springs, TX 75482, USA Job Details Description JOB TITLE: Accounting Specialist I FLSA STATUS: Salary Exempt DEPARTMENT: Public Finanace REPORTS TO: VP of Finance SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: No JOB LOCATION: Sulphur Springs, TX TRAVEL: 0-10% ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Process incoming payments and bank deposits.
Prepare client invoices and statements.
Reconcile vendor invoices against purchase orders.
Prepare vendor invoices for payment.
Calculate and file sales tax.
Provide support for annual audit.
Month end review of financials for accuracy.
Take on projects and other tasks as assigned.
Handle full-cycle GL accounting including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE): A associate’s degree in accounting or a associate’s degree in business with emphasis in accounting is required.
Must be highly skilled in the use of Excel spreadsheets.
Strong level of organization with excellent oral and written communication skills Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research variances and trends.
Demonstrated ability to work calmly in a fast-paced team environment while effectively managing multiple projects.
Ability to think critically to bring efficiency to processes.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE): 2-4 years previous experience in accounting functions Knowledge and understanding of GAAP Experience with Intacct or Workiva Qualifications Education Required Associates or better in Accounting or related field.
Experience Required 2-5 years: Advanced Excel
